When you are pregnant or have just given birth, you want to receive the care that suits your situation, questions, wishes and choices. We offer good and appropriate care! We support you and your partner before, during and after the pregnancy. You discuss with us your personal situation and your preferences during your pregnancy and when giving birth. You are in control: your wishes and situation are decisive.
Making the right choice is not always easy. Do you want to have tests for congenital defects or not? Do you want to give birth at home, in the birth center or in the hospital? How do you feel about pain management during birth? We can help you (and your partner) to make these choices, for instance by informing you about the different aspects you may encounter during your pregnancy and the delivery. We can also help you to sort out your questions and wishes. The decision is always yours!
It is important that you are well informed during your pregnancy, about the delivery and the postpartum period. There is a special law that regulates the treatment relationship between clients and health care providers. This is the Law on the Medical Treatment Agreement. Among others, this law states that every health care provider must properly inform the client about the treatment and that the client must always be asked for permission before an examination or treatment, for example for blood tests or internal examinations.
It is our job to inform you properly and clearly. Do you have questions or is our explanation not clear? Feel free to ask for clarification!
How do I make the right choice?
Your personal situation (and that of your partner) as well as your personal preferences determine what is the right choice for you. You can already think about this yourself. Discuss your preferences with your partner, your family, or your friends. Of course, we are there when you have questions. We will be happy to help you, so that you can make a choice that feels right. Do you find it difficult to make a choice? At almost every moment of choice it can be helpful to ask us the following questions:
- What are my options?
- What are the advantages and disadvantages of those options?
- What does this mean in my situation?
